How this number is worked out

It's a rough, order-of-magnitude estimate, not a quote or a formal risk assessment. We start from a baseline daily cost per employee, then scale it up for each gap your toggles show. Missing backups, no MFA and unpatched devices all make an incident more likely, and more expensive to recover from. The goal is to make the risk tangible, not to be exact.

Why this matters more than it used to

Cyber insurance increasingly asks for evidence of basic controls before it'll pay out. Clients and partners are starting to ask suppliers for Cyber Essentials certification as a condition of doing business. And the businesses we talk to after a bad week — a ransomware note, a supplier invoice fraud, a server that just won't boot — almost always had at least one of the six gaps above.

What to do with your score

If you scored well, this is a useful record to keep. If you didn't, the next step isn't necessarily a big spend — it's usually a handful of specific, fixable gaps. The £149 IT & Network Health Check is a half-day, no-obligation review that turns this rough score into a proper written report, ranked by what to fix first.
